As December unfolds, our team is buzzing with excitement, nerves, and an overwhelming sense of purpose. Adult Social Day 1.0 is today day dedicated to celebrating, educating, and uplifting 50 incredible Nigerian elders. But behind the scenes? It’s been a journey of planning, learning, and heartfelt collaboration. Here’s a transparent look at how we’re bringing this vision to life.
👩‍⚕ Partnering With Nurses, Doctors, and Volunteers
Very early in our planning, we realized one truth: caring for elders requires a community.
We began by reaching out to nurses and doctors who understand geriatric care, chronic conditions, and emotional support.
From blood pressure checks to medication reviews, from mobility assistance to simple companionship, our medical partners are preparing to bring safety and warmth to the event. We’ve also onboarded non-medical volunteers who are training on empathy-first communication, elder-friendly activities, and event coordination.
Every meeting reminds us just how many people believe in this mission.

Adult Social Day 1.0 isn’t just a celebration, it’s a learning experience.
Our team has been developing easy-to-read educational materials on:

We’re designing these materials in large print, using clear illustrations and bite-sized information. These booklets will help our elders continue learning even after the event is over.

This journey hasn’t been without its hurdles.
Funding has been a major challenge; balancing quality medical care, meals, and gifts requires resources.
Logistics, too, has kept us on our toes: coordinating transportation, securing an accessible venue, and sourcing reliable suppliers.
We’ve also had to adjust our timelines more than once as we navigate unexpected costs and shifting availability.
But with every challenge came progress.
We’ve built partnerships.
We’ve rallied volunteers.
We’ve seen strangers become supporters.
